With so many blogs out there one has to wonder what I have to say that could be so important to add to the mix. I have a variety of creative outlets that I love to share and this seemed like a place where I could do that.
My main passion is knitting, crocheting and sewing (quilting). I have been doing them for over 30 years but always stayed on the safe and easy side. It was an enjoyable way to pass the time. But as I have grown older I realize it is also the way I maintain my sanity. I am sure many of the people I know need the same types of outlets. Sometimes it's difficult to decide where your joy lies. And I am a witness to that because I have learned so many different means of artistic expression.
My current obsession is making homemade soap. I was afraid to have the lye in my home so I studied soap making for 2 years and just recently began making the most beautiful homemade soap. Today I made and poured 3 breast cancer ribbon bars, 12 heart shaped cupcake bars and a box of olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil, shea butter & cocoa butter. I will share where I have been getting my supplies done and some of the material and videos that help me get to this point. There were my 20th and 21st batches in 3 months. All have been successful except 2. The unsuccessful ones will become rebatch and added to future batches. You can read my most recent hubpage on "How to Make Homemade Soap."
I also have my first topdown sweater on my knitting needles. I have been working on it for almost a year. I had to take a break when it go hot. But Rhinebeck is Oct 14-16th so I plan to have it completed and wear it there on Sat. the 16th. I will have to share pictures of the event and possibly even a little video.
Hoping that my sharing what I have learned helps you to find something creative and artistic that you can be passionate about.
